Hitting Vmax in a Koenigsegg CCX

Koenigsegg CCX

Having a supercar and being able to push its high speed limits is not something you can easily do on public roads. That’s why the Vmax 200 event at Bruntingthorpe in England attracts some of the country’s best cars each year.

Evo magazine went along to the 2014 event and filed this video for us all to enjoy. The star of the day was a Koenigsegg CCX. Although, that V12 screaming its lungs out in the Lamborghini Aventador sounded very special indeed.

On track with the Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4

Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4

What’s better than seeing and hearing one Lamborghini Huracán on a race track? Hearing six of them. Yes, six! Check out the video after the break to see if you agree.

There’s 60 cylinders and 31.2 litres of capacity pumping out a staggering 3660hp (2688kW), so we’re pretty confident you’ll like what you see.

McLaren F1 owners’ GTG

McLaren F1 gathering

Picture this: 12 McLaren F1s, six McLaren F1 GTRs, two McLaren P1s and a collection of McLaren 12Cs and 650Ss. That’s one fearsome get together, featuring some of the motoring world’s best ever creations.

Of course, despite the P1’s might, it’s the revolutionary F1s which stole the limelight at this weekend event in Italy. A couple of videos showing these cars can be seen after the break. Alas, there’s no wide open throttle runs, or even an F1 v P1 drag, but there’s still plenty for you to admire.

Turns out there was supposed to be 13 F1s in attendance, but one didn’t quite make it.

VIDEO: Circuit de la Sarthe

Jon Lancaster, No34 Oreca-Judd LMP2

With the 24 Hours of Le Mans less than two weeks away here’s an onboard video filmed from Jon Lancaster‘s LMP2 Oreca-Judd giving us a driver’s eye view of the famous Circuit de la Sarthe.

The footage was captured during last weekend’s test sessions and we’re lucky enough to see a full lap of the 13.6km track without any other cars, ensuring Lancaster had the best cornering lines for the whole lap.

Official scrutineering for the 82nd running of Le Mans begins on Sunday and finishes on Monday, ahead of the first qualifying session on Wednesday 11 June.

The most desirable Porsche 911 ever?

1973 Porsche Carrera RS 2.7

That ducktail spoiler signifies one of the most wanted Porsche 911 models of all time: the 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Its prices are extreme—and climbing—and only a touch over 1500 were ever made.

Petrolicious gives us a look at one of only four examples to have officially made it to the United States. You can see that video below, and you will love the sound of this car. If you don’t, you should!

In addition here’s a couple of other articles about the RS you may like to read:

VIDEO: Audi A3 clubsport quattro

Audi A3 clubsport quattro

Remember the Audi A3 clubsport quattro? How could you forget it! It’s that RS3 in concept clothing now on show at Wörthersee. It’s got stupid amounts of horsepower—it even puts the GTI Roadster in the shade—and a massive don’t stuff with me air brake on the boot lid.

Audi Germany has put together this short clip showing the making process before letting the beast strut its stuff on the track.

Drool.

This is just nasty

McLaren F1 crash scene

That there is, or perhaps, was a McLaren F1. You can see video of the aftermath below, which comes to us from Marchettino. His description of the crash scene reads:

This is possibly the most shocking accident I have ever witnessed. While following a McLaren F1, a driver stopped to tell me that just 1km before another F1 just had a massive crash. We ran on the site and saw a white McLaren F1 upside down in a ditch. We’re not sure about the dynamics of the crash but probably the speed let the driver lose the control of the car on the grass, flip over and crash into a tree in the ditch. The car has reported massive damages but hopefully the driver didn’t reported any injuries; the passenger reported a few minor injuries and looked shocked.

Thankfully it appears nobody was seriously hurt. That F1, though, looks pretty rooted.

VIDEO: MINI Superleggera Vision

MINI Superleggera Vision concept

The MINI Superleggera Vision concept is a very cool thing. This we all seem to agree on. So here’s a couple of videos which may help you increase your attraction to this one-off electric powered creation. They aren’t the most exciting vids you’ll ever watch, they just focus on the lines and exquisite details of the retro inspired two-seater. And, as you’ll see, there’s nothing at all wrong with that approach.

VIDEO: 1980 Monaco Grand Prix

1980 Monaco Grand Prix

Can’t get enough of F1 cars racing around Monaco? This video from the 1980 Monaco Grand Prix should help you out. Even as far back as 34 years ago there were complaints the pits were too small for motorsport’s biggest show in town. And still the drivers can’t wait to turn up, pose, race and win.

Watch the BMW M2 in action

BMW M2 prototype

BMW has been testing the new M2 for a while now. But this is one of the first times it’s been caught on video. Alas, the sound coming from the exhaust is not as fruity as one might like. Although, it doesn’t seem like the 3.0 litre straight six turbo in the test mule was working that hard. So there should be room for improvement there.

You do get a small glimpse at how phat those flared guards will look on the final production model though. And they’re something we are looking forward to!

Reflecting on Senna’s 20th anniversary

Ayrton Senna

The Monaco Grand Prix is a special event. History, glamour and location make it so. It’s the one race Formula 1 drivers truly covet.

The streets of Monte Carlo are etched into the story of Ayrton Senna. It was in the wet in 1984 that Senna first made the F1 world stop and take notice. Then in 1988 during that qualifying lap he stood head and shoulders above his peers. He also stands alone as a six-time winner in Monaco.

Moments before qualifying for the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix it’s timely then to reflect once more on the twentieth anniversary of Senna’s death with this video which documents the activities which took place at Imola earlier this month.

The highlight is hearing F1 photographer Keith Sutton share his memories of both Senna and Roland Ratzenberger.
