D&G exec crashes ‘stylish and handsome car’

Pagani Zonda F crashed in Hong Kong

This sorry sight of a crashed Pagani Zonda F on the streets of Hong Kong is the result of mixing high end fashion with high octane power. There has been speculation over the identity of the driver, but is believed the car belongs to a Dolce & Gabbana executive. At least that’s the view given in the video below.

It’s not the first time we’ve reported on the untimely end of a Zonda F, and when you consider only 25 were made it’s time their owners started learning how to handle the 595hp 6.0 litre AMG-sourced V12 laying beneath its exotic skin.

Horacio Pagani and Huayra suck up the road

Horacio Pagani in the Huayra

The new Pagani Huayra is all kinds of awesome. This can be judged just by looking at its fantasy-like form and skimming over its spec sheet.

It weighs just 1350kg and is powered by a twin-turbo  6.0 litre V12, which produces a mind numbing 700PS (515kW) and an astonishing 1000Nm of torque.

Little wonder, then, that Zonda owner and Evo journo Harry Metcalfe soon discovered the Huayra sucks up the road like you wouldn’t believe. The induction sound is just staggering.

Metcalfe was given a pax ride with Horacio Pagani himself at a special preview in Sardinia recently. Check out the footage after the break.

VIDEO: Pagani Huayra fires up its twin-turbo V12

The Evo magazine YouTube channel brings us this video of the new Pagani Huayra. It’s only a short clip, but in it we get to see inside the car and its dash layout. We also get to see what effect a 700PS V12 has on the pooch you see above.

Official pics of the Pagani Huayra

Pagani Huayra

These official pics of the Pagani Huayra have been published on the Pagani website. Like the Zonda before it the Huayra is not going to win any beauty contests. Yet, at the same time, it’s just as beautiful. In fact, probably more so.

Maybe it’s because this time around Pagani has little left to prove. We now know they are a cottage industry manufacturer that can take it right up to the icons of Ferrari and Lamborghini. And perhaps beyond.

As expected the Huayra is powered by a twin-turbo 6.0 litre V12. Mercedes has once again provided the engine, via its AMG factory. The Huayra has a peak power figure of over 700PS and maximum torque is beyond a massive 1000Nm. With a dry weight of just 1350kg—distributed 44% to front, 56% to the rear—the Huayra is sure to be both frighteningly quick and razor sharp.

Pagani Huayra – The unofficial teaser

Pagani Huayra

Despite Pagani’s best attempts to string out the reveal of its new supercar, the Huayra, pics of the newest “gullwing” to hit the streets have been published in print and online. The February 2011 issue of Car (Spanish edition) have the Huayra on the cover, with a full story inside.

You can see more after the break. Until official details are revealed later this week, we’re expecting the Huayra to weigh in around 1300–1400kg and to have a 700hp boosted 6.0 V12 to do the huffing and puffing. Should be a real blast!

Pagani C9 teaser

In the latest C9 teaser video from Pagani the Huayra model name has been confirmed. In fact, the news is revealed by Horacio Pagani himself. Here’s the full transcript of what he had to say:

We wanted to give shape to the wind
An energy, subtle, elegant, yet strong and persistent
In seven years we have carved our latest sculpture
We are Pagani Automobili
Huayra is our wind

You can watch the clip in full after the break. The final reveal of the Huayra is expected by the middle of next week.

Pagani C9 teaser no.3

Pagani C9 teaser no.3

Pagani has released its third installment in the build up to the launch of the Zonda successor. This clip is titled “The shape of the wind”, which gives credence to the theory the car, codenamed C9, will be called the Huayra (a South American wind).

Not much detail given away here, check out the clip for yourself after the break. There’s two more teasers to go before the car’s launch on 26 January.

Unofficial Pagani C9 teasers

As the reveal of the new Pagani C9 “Huayra” draws closer a couple of Modena locals have been out and about with their video cameras. The captured footage isn’t great, we have to say, but you certainly see enough to know that the Zonda replacement is going to be a far prettier effort than Pagani’s original supercar.

Pagani C9 teaser no.2

Pagani C9 teaser #2

Pagani has released its second of five teaser videos on the Deus Venti microsite. The clips are promoting the new Zonda replacement, codenamed C9, which we now believe will be called the Huayra. Unlike the first teaser, this one makes sense.

It’s expected we’ll be seeing three more teasers at weekly intervals culminating in a full reveal of the new car.

She’s like the wind

Pagani C9 spy shot

Along with a handful of spy shots, Autoblog brings us word that the Pagani Zonda replacement, hitherto known simply as the C9, is likely to be called the Huayra. It’s the name of some South American wind, apparently.

The good news is we should know the name for sure when the C9 is revealed online later this month. We can probably pencil in a raucous V12 engine and we can see that Pagani no longer attends the Shrek school of design. Aside from that it’s pretty much guesswork.

Something we were also left doing after catching up on what is allegedly an official Pagani video teaser of the new model. Check it out after the break and we defy you not to be dumbfounded.

One thing’s for certain, for most readers, sadly, she’s out of our league.

Ferrari Ford Pagani Porsche Top Gear Volvo

Top Gear – Series 16 preview

Volvo C30 Polestar

Season 16 of Top Gear is scheduled to premiere on BBC2 on Sunday 23 January. The Top Gear website has just published a preview of what we can expect to see in the upcoming series [click here to watch].

While the Pagani Zonda R, Ferrari 599 GTO and Ariel Atom 500 V8 will be great to see in action. It is a Volvo that AUSmotive is most looking forward to. It’s not just any old Volvo, either, but the 400hp all-wheel drive C30 Polestar Concept. That’s it above; looks fantastic, don’t you think.

The equally wicked Ford Focus RS500 also gets a thrashing around the Top Gear test track, and seeing that benchmarked against the C30 Polestar will be very interesting.

Also previewed in the teaser clip is a retro shootout featuring the awesome Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959, which should warm the hearts of Generation Xers who would have grown up with posters of these cars on their bedroom walls.

VIDEO: Autocar drive the Pagani Zonda R

Pagani Zonda R

After filming the Cinque Roadster clip you’d reckon Jamie Corstorphine from Autocar would be content. But, no, he wanted more. And more was delivered in the form of the Pagani Zonda R. It is powered by a 750bhp 6.0 V12 and weighs in at a miserly 1075kg. You may also remember this is the car that lapped the Nürburgring in 6 minutes and 47 seconds. Simply astounding! All you need is a spare €1.5 million (AU$2.1m) and some change for the taxman.
