Citröen DS Inside lives up to its name

Citroen DS Inside Concept

In February this year Citröen revealed images of its new DS Inside Concept. Only, back then, they didn’t show us the inside at all, just the outside.

Citröen have now rectified that problem by sending interior images to AUSmotive HQ. The car is due for launch in early 2010 they say. So, a public showing at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September could be on the cards.

After the nifty looking outside I was expecting a bit more flair on the inside, especially for a concept car. The MINI-esque styling cues are still there. The textured ‘haute-couture’ leather dash won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I think it could be a nice touch. Okay, maybe the leather roof is pushing things a bit too far, but it is a show car after all.

The seats are a bit crazy looking with the overstyled patterns in the leather, but there’s no reason to expect they won’t be comfortable. Other design details inside are well executed, though, especially the metal lever on the front seats to gain access to the rear of the car.

So, on reflection maybe this concept is not so much concept as it is pre-production car. On that basis, the DS Inside Concept, in visual form at least, gets the AUSmotive tick of approval.

Have a look at the images and video after the jump and let us know what do you think.

STEP INSIDE THE CITROËN DS INSIDE – CONCEPT CAR INTERIOR REVEALED

Citroën has provided its first hint at the interior styling of the all-new DS3 by unveiling a new iteration of the DS Inside concept model.

At its launch in early 2010, the DS3 will present owners with an unprecedented range of touches to express their personality, and the haute-couture cabin of the latest DS Inside goes some way to previewing the level of detail and individuality that will be available.

The dashboard is flowing and airy, whilst the instrument cluster, steering wheel and low, body-hugging seats extend the feeling of dynamism. Black chrome touches around the cabin and a thick lounge style carpet, leave the DS Inside exuding class, style and distinction. The concept is strikingly finished with a premium leather roof in pearlescent ivory with a powder-like finish that bears the DS insignia.

The styling project for the DS line has been led by British designer, Mark Lloyd. Beginning with the DS3, the new DS line will deliver a powerful identity to the Citroën family. Representing “Different Spirit”, it will present an identity strong on modernity and distinction, drawing its DNA clearly from Citroën’s history of innovation and unforgettable design.

One reply on “Citröen DS Inside lives up to its name”

Looks like they gas-axed a Citroen from the sill line and welded a mini roof and pillars on top.
