VIDEO: Audi S3 v BMW M135i

Audi S3 v BMW M135i

Jethro Bovingdon from Evo spent the day fanging around Bedford Aerodrome in an Audi S3 and a BMW M135i. As you know the S3 is all-wheel drive and powered by a four cylinder turbo, while the M135i has a more pure rear-wheel drive layout with an inline six cylinder turbo.

The Audi is lighter but has less power. Can the BM’s extra grunt make up for its extra bulk? And which one is more fun on track?

[Thanks to Micky for the tip]

Its a shame the m135 is so hideous, it did however look like he was having more fun in the s3…

I know this is Evo so its has to be a track test but on the streets I’m not sure you would notice that 1.1sec.

My issue with BM is they just can’t build them so they stay together. As former 135i coupe owner I can say that it was the most disappointing car I have ever owned. Bits just kept falling off. The Holdens and Ford from my rep days were more reliable.

Got rid of the Bimmer because it was spending more time a Stillwell’s than at my house. The Scirocco replaced it with hasn’t missed a beat yet costs less than 2/3rd the price of a fully loaded 1 coupe. Will seriously look at the S3 sedan next year (along with the new TTS). Both look to be fast and fun (enough) but have that Audi quality that is just not apparent in the BMW.

A friend of ours has a bmw 135i and they have had a lot of issues I think injectors and fuel pump problems and it cost them a lot of money to repair so that has put me off buying a bmw. Also they all look the same and boring too.
