We’ve seen undisguised spy shots of the MINI F56 before, but this photo of the 2014 Cooper S shows us the car in its final production state. The car in question was caught during a filming run and we now have some time to get used to that new MINI face before its official launch next month.
We also know the new Cooper S will be powered by an all-new 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo engine producing 141kW and 280Nm (300Nm with overboost). That information was revealed, along with other technical highlights, by MINI late last week.
Built on BMW’s UKL1 platform the third generation MINI will be the most heavily influenced by BMW we have seen. We fear some of MINI’s charms will be lost as BMW looks to component share with its 1 Series range.

This looks much better without the lens distortion from the earlier spy shots. Will look even better in a decent colour!
A tad ‘bejeweled’, losing it’s aesthetic simplicity.
yuck looks like noddy’s car..
can someone tell me what r those chrome covered small squares for under the front fogs????? i’ve seen similar set up in recent ford fiesta !!! looks like unfinished job to me LOL
I’ll get one if they make a GP version again, but this time with a 2 litre turbo which would be quite tasty
Bet you don’t.
Doesn’t look too bad all things considered (ie, compared to how clunky it looked in the previous undisguised/video shoot images). I’d be interested to see what the body kit looks like as there are elements of the front and rear bumper that still look a little fussy.
rpar – I expect they will be the same as the current R56 MINI’s where they are fully functional brake cooling ducts (a rarity on production cars I understand). On the current R56, they can be optioned without the chrome if you want to dial down the bling.
Looks much better than the other spy pics. Are the rear tail lights massive?!
The bar across the upper grille where the plates are placed in the pic looks like a mouthguard!
+1 would like to see the aero kit version.
BMW influence alright, the same bloke who drew up the new 1 Series ROFL
