Back in May Fiat and Mazda announced they would co-develop a new roadster platform for the Alfa Romeo and Mazda brands. We know one of those cars will be the rear-wheel drive Mazda MX-5 and we assume the other will be badged the Alfa Romeo Spider.
UK magazine Car has had a crack at rendering the two models. So, which one do you prefer? Right now, we reckon the Mazda has its nose in front.
While the original agreement states the assumption, “both vehicles will be manufactured at Mazda’s Hiroshima, Japan, plant with production for Alfa Romeo envisaged starting in 2015”, it is expected each company will supply their own unique engines.
Either way it looks like happy days ahead for lightweight roadster fans.
