Mercedes-Benz Club takes on Sydney Harbour Bridge

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL

Here’s one for our Sydney readers looking for a Sunday morning activity. The Mercedes-Benz Club of NSW will be staging a convoy of Benzes from all eras, with as many as 150 cars crossing Sydney Harbour Bridge tomorrow.

Apparently there’ll even be a 300 SL ‘Gullwing’ in attendance. The original Gullwing is one of the most beautiful cars ever made, surely this is enough cause to check out the day if you can. You’ll need to be up bright and early, though, as the club plans to leave their Hickson Road departure point by 8am. Full details below.

Sydney’s Coat Hanger to Get Some Added Sparkle This Sunday

Melbourne – This Sunday the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge is set to be over-run with stars.

In what is expected to be an unofficial first, the Mercedes-Benz Club of NSW will assemble the longest convoy of Mercedes-Benz cars to cross the Sydney icon.

Approximately 150 club-member cars have been confirmed to participate in the spectacle, with more expected to join by Sunday morning.

The spectacular convoy is sure to add a lot of sparkle to Australia’s harbour city, with many unique and rare Mercedes models making up much of the group. Cars such as the famous 300 SL “Gullwing” from the 1950s will join the convoy, as will many modern sports and luxury models from the German car maker’s stable.

The route to be taken will be from the event’s starting point in Hickson Road, Sydney, across the Harbour Bridge, through the Lane Cove Tunnel and onto North Ryde.

All Mercedes-Benz drivers are welcome to join the spectacle this Sunday.

The event’s main details are listed below:

Date: Sunday 8 November 2009

Time: Meet at 7.30am for an 8.00am departure

Meeting venue: Hickson Road Sydney (adjacent to the overseas ship terminal)

Contact: Mr Mike Fleming, Mercedes-Benz Club of NSW – 0418 961 982

I hope they don’t have any “help” from the Highway Patrol and RTA like we had at the MINI 50th celebration.
They let us go in groups of about 20 cars and by the time we made it to the Bridge (with all the traffic), we were lucky to be in groups of 5!!!
