Reviving old skool F1 liveries is becoming something of an art form it would seem. And we’re all the thankful for it.
This time clever clogs designer Jeremy Hancox has come up with four restyled liveries from the 1980s and 90s and applied them to a 21st century F1 car. We thank Jeremy and F1 Fanatic for inviting him to show his wares.
One more thing, car numbers on rear wings: Bring them back!
Here’s the list of cars that have been brought back to the future:
- 1984 Toleman TG184 (Ayrton Senna’s first F1 car)
- 1990 Leyton House CG901 (Adrian Newey’s first F1 car)
- 1991 Jordan 191 (Michael Schumacher’s first F1 car)
- 1997 Lola T97/30 (A donkey)

Winning. They all look great.
Modern liveries can’t compare to the classic 1980s and 1990s designs… well aside from the mastercard livery anyway.
Are we just being nostalgic? I agree that it looks great but does it mean the current ones are just as nice?
@ Way, nostalgia? No, today’s cars have on average 500 sponsors names splattered all of them, they look confused and “cheap” (I made up the 500 thing, but it sounds legit 😉 )
Amazing livery
