Next-gen Audi RS5 to boast 475hp twin-turbo V6

2013 Audi RS5 Coupe

When the B9-based Audi A5 hits the streets in 2015 it’s expected to lose up to 100kg in weight. There may also be an optional ‘Ultra pack’ offered on selected models for those wanting to save more kilos.

Rather than sacrificing luxury items the Ultra pack could include hollow-spoke alloy wheels, aluminium body panels and lighter engine ancillaries.

The next-generation A5 range is expected to get a light restyling of what is already quite a nice exterior look. It will also benefit from upgrades applied to the A4 range, including an 8-speed S tronic which will likely be available across the A5 line up.

But it’s the news on the range-topping RS5 that interests us the most. Out goes the much loved 331kW (440hp) 4.2 litre naturally aspirated V8, which can trace its roots to the B7 RS4, and in comes a 355kW (475hp) twin-turbo V6 unit.

Let’s hope Audi can nail the handling a bit better this time.

/facpalm!

Current v8 is no where close to b7 RS4 v8. It is closer to R8 v10 engine with 2 cylinder delete.

Please do some research before you spew the bile.
