Hey, would you believe this, a carrier pigeon has just flown through a window and left us a message. No, not that kind of message a real message, you know, with proper information and stuff. It concerns what is sure to be the first step into AMG ownership for most buyers, the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG.
Anyway, here’s what the message said, take particular note of the last line:

So, in real world terms a vanilla A45 AMG, if you can call it that, should be a smidge into the 80K price range driveaway. That is quite a lot for a small hatchback no doubt, but for an AMG product, with BMW 1M performance, it’s a bit of a bargain.

It would seem AMG have tuned this 2.0l 4pot to the max, wonder if the engine has room for after market tunes without having to replace half the engine components.
Look at the list of standard eqiupment! Bargain indeed.

I was considering the BMW M135i but this one looks better and also goes better for around the same price!
Jav, I would still go for the M135i.
I test drove this one in Canberra last weekend and I would find it hard to believe that the AMG could be better. The straight 6 in the BMW is glorious as is the handling, seating position and relatively compliant suspension.
4 cyl AWD AMG vs 6 cyl RWD M135i
I’ll stick with my M135i.
Inside of the Merc looks… tacky.
I’m a BM fanboi by most accounts, but TBH I would much prefer a car that I could look at sitting in my garage everyday than not……….. hence why you won’t find a MSport135 in my shed. In contrast I have always been anti Merc, too much of an “old man’s car”, this little car is different, funky and goes like a scalded cat out of the box, bang for your buck and AMG versus a NON ///M 1 series, the AMG will win it for me I am afraid this time round, well at least until we see what an ///M2 looks like.
