We wonder, have you ever thought of comparing the limited-edition Audi A1 quattro (188kW/350Nm) with the all-conquering Nissan GT-R (404kW/632Nm)? No, neither had we.
Thankfully, or not as the case may be, Autocar did dream up this odd-ball comparison. Moreover, throw a soaking wet track into the equation and what you may have thought would be a simple walkover for the GT-R becomes a little bit closer than you might think, even though both cars have all-wheel drive.
After you’ve watched the clip, we’d love to hear your thoughts below. Do you reckon it was a fair comparison? Or do you think it was an entirely pointless exercise?

I’d be interested to know which tyres they were using. IIRC some years ago a motoring magazine compared a WRC WRX on standard tyres and a standard WRX on snow tyres and the stock WRX was faster in the snow. As you’d expect I guess.
They mention that the GTR was on its normal rubber, which used to be Bridgestone Re070’s.
As this weather is pretty common on the UK,I think it’s a very valid comparison.
I’ve seen other test on narrow B roads in the dry and the “supercars” have trouble keeping hot hatches in check.
We have a Ferrari 430 and a Gallardo LP560-4 that people hire for laps of Marulan, which is tight and twisty, and from driving both I’d say a good hot hatch would be snapping at their heels. The Gallardo in particular feels about 3 metres wide….

thank christ they didnt have enough cameras for VBHs car. couldnt bear to listen to her deep grunts and high pitched squeals and shrieks.
@mark it’s the other Vicky, who has an even more annoying voice.
I think it’s a dumb comparison but it was still fun to watch.
I think the Nissan had road tyres and the A1 had slicks o_O
Who cares! It’s a laugh! Tight, twisty and wet track needs agility not HP!
