Aston proves ‘Cynical’ tag with V12 mooted

Aston Martin Cygnet

We hate the Aston Martin Cygnet. So much so we choose to refer to it as the Cynical. Our thoughts have been proved correct, too, with word Aston Martin is prepared to stuff a 6.0 litre V12 into its tiny bonnet if enough idiots are prepared to cough up the cash.

Remind us, what was the point of this car again?

Haha.. that’s ridiculous. I hope it will do wheelies and stoppies like those hayabusa powered smart cars.

@RE. That’s a fair point. I certainly applaud Nissan for doing what they have done. The Juke needed something extreme like that to overcome its horrendous looks. But if I ever had the cash to splash I wouldn’t go anywhere near the Juke R.

And at least that car, the regular Juke, wasn’t originally created for overtly cynical purposes like the rebadged Toyota above.

Yes, but at least Toyota owns Lexus. The Cygnet is for regulation purposes only. Aston too lazy (or perhaps smart enough) to not even develop their own fuel efficient car.

So, sticking a V12 in the Cygnet, even if it might end up being very cool, is just totally counter-intuitive.

If they wanted to do something like that all along why not get real and make a Boxster/Cayman rival? Y’know, something resembling the brand’s core attributes.
