Today is Peter Brock‘s 67th birthday. Sadly the motorsport icon is no longer with us to celebrate it. Perhaps the running of the Bathurst 12 Hour today serves as a fitting tribute.
As a child growing up in the 1980s ‘Brocky’ was a boyhood hero and, even more so now that he’s gone, remembering him takes me back to my youth where I was lucky enough to have a smile on my face more often than not.
To help remember those good times here’s a video of Peter Perfect shooting the breeze in his VK Commodore with the Channel 7 commentators during the 1986 James Hardie 1000.
Along the way Brock gives an impromptu guide to a lap around Mount Panorama. All while he’s knocking out high quality lap times. Never mind that he’s doing it while joking away and waving hello to his family, what about the casual right elbow resting on the door!
Those were the days.
