2012 Bathurst 12 Hour live streaming

Broadcasting live with Ustream

UPDATE 26 February: (1815) The #1 Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS wins from the #20 Erebus Racing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and the #33 Clearwater Racing Ferrari 458 GT3.

(1715) With eleven hours safely locked away it now looks like it is Audi’s race to lose. The #1 car enjoys a lead of 2:08 over the #20 Mercedes. It’s expected the Audi will have to pit again, while the Mercedes may just make it to the end. But without a Safety Car that may not be enough for the Mercedes to challenge for the lead. The #33 Ferrari remains in third place with a 13 lap lead over fourth.

(1545) With two and a half hours remaining the lead car has completed 209 laps. The #1 Audi leads by 18 seconds from the fast closing #20 Mercedes. Third is the #33 Ferrari which is currently on the lead lap but has to serve a pit stop penalty, following a black flag for passing under yellows, which will put it down one lap.

(1330) Mark Eddy has succumbed to the weather in the #2 Audi and crashed into the wall near Skyline. He’s okay, but the ‘Australian’ Audi, with Warren Luff and Craig Lowndes, is now out of the race.

(1300) Drama for the #2 Audi has seen its race hopes dashed. The car has been given a 5 minute penalty for the earlier refuelling dramas. On the way into the pits to serve that penalty the car spun at the pit entry and was bogged in the sand trap. The car has been freed and is now sitting in pit lane. The Audi crew cannot work on the car while serving its penalty.

(1240) At half race distance we had the first three cars all within a second of each other. Since then the rain has become much heavier and created some chaos. The #1 Audi spun into the gravel while in the lead. Moments later its sister car was in the pits and exited before the refuelling rig was removed from the car. Both cars are going again, but the lead was surrendered to the #20 Erebus Racing Mercedes SLS AMG. With subsequent pit stops the three lead cars are now spread over 45 seconds, although the order has changed: #2 Audi R8, #20 Mercedes SLS AMG, #1 Audi R8.

(1125) The rain has well and truly set in. It claimed one of the Black Falcon backed Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 as well as the United Autosports Audi R8 LMS. Just moments ago Dominik Farnbacher in the #17 Maranello Motorsport Ferrari 458 GT3 stopped on track and has been towed back into the pits to a sea of glum faces.

(0728) Simonsen appears to be back in action at full pace now, although almost two laps down. Reports say the fuel gauge was displaying there was fuel in the car when it was actually empty. That forced the car into limp mode and it took two stops to fix. The first to refuel, the second to reset the ECU out of limp mode.

(0718) Drama for Allan Simonsen now, he’s limping down Conrod back to pitlane. Unsure of what the issue is at this stage. Best of luck to the Maranello Motorsport team in getting the 458 GT3 back out.

(0715) Simonsen, again, a 2:06.45 on lap 24. We’re about to head out around the track so keep an eye on our twitter feed for updates or follow the #B12hr hashtag.

(0708) Allan Simonsen has smashed his own race lap record with a 2:06.58 set on lap 21.

(0645) It only took a few laps to break the outright lap record at Bathurst. Allan Simonsen currently holds the new record with a 2:07.15. Christopher Mies has done a 2:08.11 in his Audi and David Russell has also beaten the old record with a 2:08.46 in his Lamborghini.

Here’s our short video of the rolling start…

(0545) It’s mild, almost warm, and clear in Bathurst this morning. The race should start in ideal conditions, and more importantly it should be dry. But will it stay that way? Keep an eye on the official weather radar and see for yourself!

With only a few days to go until the serious action kicks off at the Bathurst 12 Hour it’s time to start thinking about how you can keep up to date.

Obviously, being trackside is probably the best way to stay in touch and soak up the atmosphere, but if you can’t make it to Mount Panorama then you’re going to be pretty well served by free live streaming online.

Just as they did for the Le Mans 24 Hour race audi.tv will be hosting a live feed from Bathurst for qualifying and the full 12 hours of race action. In previous years a live feed has been hosted via USTREAM and it looks like that will be the case again in 2012.

If you’re not able to sit by a computer all day and have access to pay TV that the Speed channel will broadcast the final 90 minutes of the race live. You could also do a lot worse than loading a twitter app to your smartphone and keeping an eye on AUSmotive.

We’ll bump this page up if/when new info comes to hand. If you want to bookmark it for future reference then best use this short url: ausm.tv/1ab

Don’t get me started on FTA channels, haha!

I agree with you, a secondary channel like One, Gem, Seven Two, whatever, should be ideal for the 12 Hour.
