Walter Röhrl, Porsche luminary and Targa Tasmania competitor, has taken to the track in a beautifully restored 904 GTS. The car is part of the excellent rolling Porsche Museum which makes sure its car go as well as they show.
With Röhrl at the wheel, the sleek coupé still has the ability to powerslide through corners, all while looking as stunning today as it did when it made its racing debut back in 1963.
Enjoy the footage after the break. Oh, we’re disappointed the Autoblog footage of Walter spinning the 904 didn’t make the final edit.

What’s with the car not having a seatbelt?
Many racing cars of that era and earlier didnt have seat belts (and road cars werent required to have them in most countries until the 1970’s). As crazy as we’d think it today they thought you were more at risk of dying trapped in the car if there was a fire rather than being “thrown free” in a crash (and drivers had survived this crazily enough) so they thought it was the better option. And I’m gusssing modifying a rare, nearing priceless car to include a seatbelt is sacrilidge to some folk.
It’s a car restored more Porsche museum, so why would they modify it to include seat belt?
