Mark Webber drove a scintillating closing lap in his Red Bull RB6 to claim pole position at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix. Webber’s time of 1:13.826 was 0.294 seconds ahead of Renault’s Robert Kubica. Sebastien Vettel qualified in third, 0.401 seconds behind his Australian teammate.
Webber thanked his Red Bull Racing team and said, “the car was again was a pleasure … pole at Monaco is a nice feeling.” This result follows Mark’s pole position from last weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix and he said he is ready to “give it a good crack” in tomorrow’s race.
Can history repeat itself? First, can Mark repeat his Spanish GP success and convert pole into another race win? Second, back in 1959 Australian motor racing legend Sir Jack Brabham qualified on pole at Monaco before going on to win the race. Here’s hoping they are two very good signs for Mark Webber tomorrow.

WOOHOO!
Don’t stuff this up Mark!
QBN FTW!
After 30 year this could be MW year.
I like it how Vettel is feeling the pressure.
Yeah, good call Flaps. Our Mark is doing a jolly good job right now.
Red Bull really need to capitalise on their quali dominance though. Just two wins after starting every race this year from pole is a bit of a crappy return.
I think you will find that Red Bull will be more and more reliable as the season progresses, but then again the other teams will also close the gap in terms of speed. If Mark wins tonight and keep the pressure up, he could really break Vettel I reckon!
Loved this from the press conference:
Q: (Joris Fioriti – AFP) Sebastian, are you starting to fear your team-mate more by the race?
SV: Yeah, I’m not afraid of him. As far as I remember, he fell off a bike a couple of years ago or last year, so his leg is still a bit unstable, so I can always run away, plus I’m younger, so there are good chances for me.
[…] but Michael will start from P6 later tonight. Which means “our Mark” starts from P1. Last time he did that in Monaco he won the race. We can dream, can’t […]
