A few weeks ago Audi racked up its 10th Le Mans victory. That put the German marque second on the all-time list of winning manufacturers; six behind Porsche.
Stuttgart, it would seem, is not impressed with the inroads being made by Ingolstadt and Porsche has announced they are coming back to Le Mans to race for outright victory in the LMP1 category.
Giving themselves plenty of time to get things right, Porsche will be racing at La Sarthe again in 2014. Game on!

Question is, will the VAG board allow both Audi and Porsche to race against each other?
That’s a very good question.
VW is going to enter as well???!!!!!
I’d say they’ll be too busy concentrating on the WRC:

I was watching a bit of the Imola 6 hour last night and the commentators were saying Audi is really keen to see Porsche back at Le Mans and couldn’t wait to race against them. The real question now becomes, where does Audi get their drivers from? Many of their current line up are contracted to Porsche and given a release for Le Mans only.
Where to get good endurance drivers from? David Brabham is available currently, and Mark Webber (already a Porsche ambassador) will probably be finished his F1 career by then so that’s two top-shelf drivers they could lock in. Some of the Porsche contracted drivers who drive for GTE category entrants could get promoted to LMP1.
I also wonder whether Audi will make a response to this and make a R8 V10 GT2 for factory-supported customer teams to enter in the GTE category where it could take on the GT3 RSR.
