Subaru Australia have confirmed a sedan version of the high-performance Impreza WRX STI will go on sale before the end of the year. The news was announced at the New York International Auto Show and follows the introduction of flared panelwork to the regular WRX range. Previously the widebody look was available on the STI hatch only.
STI Re-Boots in New York
Subaru’s performance icon, the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive Impreza WRX STI, will add the choice of a sedan body for the 2011 Model Year, the company has revealed at the New York International Auto Show.
Until now, current generation WRX STI has been available as a hatch-only.
Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia, said: “We can confirm a four-door Impreza WRX STI will join our Australian line-up much later in the year and will be available from our exclusive STI retail network.â€
Mr Senior said further specification and pricing will be announced at launch time.
Subaru’s latest turbocharged developments follow the recent news that widebody sedan and hatch versions of the Impreza WRX are also being launched later this year.
The widebody design further distinguishes Subaru’s turbo Impreza variants from the normally aspirated versions.

Wait, so does this one have wider arches than the WRX sedan that was shown recently?
Nah, I reckon it’ll be the same. So all WRXs have the widebody, including STIs.
Wow, in my mind that would make the STI a lot less special that it used to be!
gives it a broader appeal i reakon. Will be interesting to see which one gets the most sales, sedan or hatch….

Of course it is wider and lower than regular WRX sedan/hatch. If don’t believe measure it in subaru’s salon. They allready have them. Sti has more sporty bumpers and new colors on gauges. Someone who says it’s the same like wrx doesn’t know real facts.
